Gender and Sexual Identity

The landscape of gender and sexuality is far more varied and obscure than the simple depiction it has been given in the past. This realization comes as more and more individuals resolve to understand and live out their true and natural self. Moreover, as science and the medical fields begin to understand more about gender and sexual identity we continually expand and clarify our perception towards these terms.

Gender as a bipolar model has become antiquated, furthermore, it lies not only on a spectrum between two poles, but explodes into a multi-faceted model, like a prism, compounded by the additional differences we see in people. Differences such as sexual orientations, genetic variants, brain chemistry, and the complexity of our culture, society, and personal growth in life.

In view of the many different and complex possibilities in the nature of a TG/TS person and the external circumstances of living (legal, financial, medical, bureaucracy), the degree, placement in transition, and outcome of the goals will vary widely.

Whatever an individual chooses as their own journey, all of these issues weigh heavy in the life of a TG/TS person and those who are close to them.
